Atlantic Threads is an initiative led by Pivô in partnership with African Artists’ Foundation (Dig Where You Stand), and Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. This project prologue was supported by the Embassy of France in Brazil, and the Institut Français, in the framework of the Brazil-France Season 2025. The artists were welcomed in Paris as part of the « Institut français x Cité internationale des arts » residency program.
Anne-Lise Agossa is an Abidjan and London-based designer whose practice spans art, architecture and design. Rooted in the complex relationship between culture and space, Anne-Lise’s practice is focused on bridging the gap between past and future, within and around the African context. Particularly influenced by the geo-cultural landscape of West Africa, the Sahel, Central Sahara and their material and oral traditions.

Cindy Sissokho is a curator, cultural producer, and writer with a specific focus on anticolonial, social, and political practices within the arts and culture. Her work is nurtured by the urgency to broaden and disseminate knowledge and artistic production from systemically racialised and marginalised perspectives. She is a curator at the Wellcome Collection in London and co-curated the French Pavilion at the 60th edition of the Venice Biennale in 2024.
In this conversation with Cindy Sissokho, Anne-Lise Agossa discusses her interest in the study of natural forms, and the way in which materials and their transformation carry real and potential stories.
